Middle School Weight Training Orientation

7th & 8th grade boys and girls will be able to take an orientation class on weight training in the PE Center Weight room. Individuals must register in advance. Class size is restricted to 8 individuals per class. Once you successfully complete the 1 hour orientation class you will be allowed to purchase passes or pay the daily admission to use the weight room when accompanied by an adult, 18 & older and out of school. each accompanying adult, will only be allowed to supervise up to two (2) individuals at a time.

Experience the benefits of the ancient science of Hatha Yoga at the Byron Park District. This class will be a mixed level Hatha Yoga for beginners and intermediate level students, both males and females. Yoga promotes good health, tones muscles, and aids in increased flexibility and stamina as well as decreasing stress levels. Breathing techniques will be covered along with a relaxation time at the end of each class. Come and learn to relax the body and mind!! Class time is 1 ½ hours.

Based on research, cardio kickboxing is designed to challenge the heart and lungs while building lean muscle mass. a martial arts program along with punching bags, free weights, drills and mat work will be utilized through a low impact program. students will get the benefit of a cardiovascular program through the kicking and striking techniques of a martial arts class from a licensed cardio kickboxing instructor. 8 week session.
Half-sesssion participants may attend any 8 classes within the session. Full session will receive priority over half-session registrants until the deadline date.

Originating in Russia, a Kettlebell is a centuries old training tool that looks like a cannon ball with a handle. Kettlebell training is different than other forms of weight training because many parts of the body are exercised simultaneously, and in addition, Kettlebell training elevates the heart rate of effective cardiovascular training. Kettlebell training will build long lean muscles; improve strength and power in the upper body, core, and lower body as well as increase coordination, joint mobility and overall endurance.

Water workouts are a great way to increase your range of motion and are less stressful on joints and muscles than land exercises. Our water aerobics class, which is suitable for all fitness levels and ages, combines cardio conditioning, muscle toning and stretching. Buoyancy belts and hand weights are incorporated into each workout. Swimming skills are not required. Interested in trying the class out before you pay? Contact Carrie at 234-8435.
