Mission statement

It is the purpose of the Byron Park District to provide quality programs and facilities for the community by planning and maintaining effective and responsive recreation activities. Services will be provided that educate and stimulate our participants to enhance their own well being. Our financial resources will be managed with integrity and accountability making sound use of the Intergovernmental Agreements through the Community Unit School District #226 and the Byron Forest Preserve, as well as searching out other entities.

Board of Commissioners

The Byron Park District Board of Commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for every third Tuesday of the month in the Park District conference room.  Meetings begin at 6:30 PM and are open to the public. If you plan to attend, please call in advance to verify meeting date and time.

Intergovernmental agreement

The Byron Park District is proud to share the use of Byron C.U.S.D. #226’s facilities. The Intergovernmental Agreement allows the shared usage by both school and park district, with school and extracurricular activities having priority. The Byron PE Center, Outdoor Sports Complex, pool and racquetball courts provide a beautiful and functional state-of-the-art facility. We ask for your cooperation in helping to maintain these buildings and grounds by strictly adhering to all rules and guidelines that have been established.

Brochure Distribution

Our brochures are distributed to all Byron Park District residents, and all persons on our mailing list. We have recently added everyone residing in the following zip codes, 61084, 61047 and 61020. We rely upon the Byron Post Office for mail delivery of our seasonal brochures and assume no responsibility for mail delivery.  If for some reason you do not receive a brochure, please pick one up at the Park District office, and/or ask to be added to our mailing list.
