Illusions with Watercolor & Acrylic Paints
Time to use your creativity with paints!
Open to all ages, each class will be a great learning experience
for beginners or experienced painters. For the first class, we
will explore poring, resists, and lifts while working with
watercolor paints. On the second day, we will execute finishing
techniques and complete the watercolor project. During the third
class, we will explore techniques of stamping and collage and
will be working with acrylic paints.
*All participants are required to provide or purchase through
the Park District the following: 3 brushes of various sizes (1 ˝
“-3” Flat), and watercolor paints of at least these colors:
caduim yellow light, phtalo blue, and alizarin crimson.

Sculpting Cardio Kickboxing
Based on research, Cardio Kickboxing has been redesigned to
challenge the heart and lungs while sculpting muscles. A Martial
Arts program along with punching bags, free weights, and
mat work will be utilized in an exertion and recovery style
format. Students will learn the kicking and striking techniques
of a martial arts class from a licensed cardio kickboxing
instructor, in addition to getting low-impact cardiovascular
conditioning.
Eight week sessions.
*Some additional equipment (ie-gloves) may be suggested.

Excel Academy Tae Kwon Do
Excel Academy of Byron provides the instruction for the Byron
Park District’s Tae Kwon Do classes! Learn freestyle Tae Kwon
Do, which helps students gain physical strength, coordination,
balance, flexibility, focus, sportsmanship and many other
qualities that will benefit them in other sports as well as
every day life. Weapons, sparring and self-defense
techniques will be covered. 8 week sessions.

Judo Jui Jitsu
for Self Defense & Sport
Judo was introduced in 1882 as a sport utilizing the Jiu Jitsu
style of fighting. Jiu Jitsu is the ancient martial art of Japan
which uses strikes, wrist locks, arm bars, chokes, takedowns,
throws, and grappling. Emphasis is placed on using an opponent’s
size and strength against them. These are the techniques used by
the Marine Corp. as well as law enforcement agencies around the
world. Join the Excel Academy instructors at the Byron Park
District to learn these techniques of self-defense and sport!! 8
week sessions.

This class is a cardiovascular workout with weight training,
performed in chest deep water to maximize the effort. Swimming
skills are not necessary.

Hatha Yoga
Experience the benefits of the ancient science of
Hatha Yoga at the Byron Park District. This class will be a
mixed level Hatha Yoga for beginners to intermediate level
students, both males and females. Yoga promotes good health,
tones muscles, and aids in increased flexibility and stamina as
well as decreasing stress levels. Breathing techniques will be
covered along with a 15-minute relaxation time at the end of
each class. Come and learn to
relax the body & mind!! Class time is 1 1/2 hours. 8 week
session
* Bring your own mat, two yoga blocks, a yoga strap, a blanket,
towel and a water bottle to each class.
**Double Session registrations will receive priority over Single
Session registrations.
